How to Convert PNG to JPG on Windows
PNG files are great because they support transparency and are "lossless." The downside? They can be huge. If you have a photo saved as a PNG, it might be 5x larger than it needs to be. Converting it to JPG is the best way to save space.
1. Using Microsoft Paint
- Right-click your PNG and select Open with > Paint.
- Go to File > Save as > JPEG picture.
- Windows will warn you that any transparency will be lost (it will turn white). Click OK.
- Your file is now a much smaller JPG.
2. Using imgKonvert (The Smarter Way)
If you want to convert many files and have control over the final quality, use a dedicated tool.
- Go to the PNG to JPG Converter.
- Drag and drop your PNGs.
- Click Convert All.
- Our tool processes the images securely and privately.
- Download your optimized JPGs.
When to Keep it as a PNG?
Don't convert to JPG if:
- You need a transparent background (JPGs don't support this).
- The image has a lot of text or sharp lines (JPG compression can make text look "fuzzy").
For everything else, especially photographs, JPG is the winner.
Summary
Windows users can use Paint for a quick fix, but imgKonvert is the best choice for bulk conversion and maintaining the best possible quality-to-size ratio.
